We recently had the opportunity to work with Phili-Orient Logistics, a logistics company specialising in electronic and computer parts with headquarters in Selangor and key operations in Penang and the Airports. Their team approached us to produce a corporate video that would reflect their new branding and serve as a key asset on their website and during international exhibitions. The goal was clear: to visually represent their professionalism, scale, and ability to manage complex logistics, especially in the fast-moving semiconductor and electronics sectors. But as ironic as it sounds, logistics itself became our biggest challenge during production. With locations spread across multiple states and strict access protocols at places like airport hangars, we knew early on that this shoot would require meticulous coordination, creative flexibility, and tight collaboration with the client.
logistics itself became our biggest challenge during production
We began with scripting, crafting a story that would not only introduce the company and its range of services but also highlight their unique strengths, such as their in-house tracking system, their professionally trained team handling dangerous goods, and most importantly, their flagship customs brokerage service. This end-to-end support, from warehouse to customs clearance to final delivery, is one of the key reasons their clients stay with them. Once the script was finalised, we broke it down into specific scenes. For example, a line like “For more than 35 years, we have been the logistics partner of choice for Malaysia's semiconductor and electronics industries” needed to be matched with real footage of warehouse operations and live cargo handling, and we had to time all of that with the client’s actual daily workflow.

We allocated four shoot days in Penang, where we focused on capturing warehouse capacity, cargo receiving, value-added processes, and delivery coordination. The remaining two days were in Selangor, mostly for scenes at the HQ, team meetings, and the highly controlled shoot at KLIA’s air cargo hangar. Due to the complexity of locations and limited access, we scheduled recce sessions a day before each shoot to allow our crew to plan more efficiently. Every scene, from cargo handovers to airport customs, from tracking systems to office culture, was made possible through close cooperation with the Phili-Orient team, who helped coordinate timing, secure access, and guide us through the technical operations.
Coordination with the client is the key to successful video production. It ensures a smooth shoot without disrupting their daily operations.
Our director works closely with the client to arrange the staff and fine-tune the position.
Filming at Phili-Orient’s Selangor office was the easier part of the project. Our main focus there was to capture group shots of the various departments and some behind-the-scenes moments of their daily work. To prepare, we coordinated with the client to ensure everyone involved was in uniform and ready for their scenes. We also ensured the atmosphere remained light and enjoyable, helping the team feel comfortable on camera while maintaining a professional and organised approach.
The Penang shoot, however, was much more complex. We spent a total of four days there, with the first day dedicated to recce and coordination with the person-in-charge at their Penang Island office. One of our priorities was checking the lighting conditions in the CEO’s office, and several key scenes were set in the office. We needed to plan the lighting setup and camera placement in advance. Afterwards, we headed to the warehouse located in Bukit Mertajam on the mainland. There, we confirmed the schedule for loading and unloading operations and value-added service processes, as these were integral scenes mentioned in the script.
The second and third days were focused on filming. The warehouse scenes proved to be the most challenging part of the project. Some loading and unloading processes occurred so quickly that we had to adapt rapidly to capture them effectively, all while minimising interference with the client’s actual operations. We coordinated closely with the warehouse manager, who allowed us to re-shoot certain scenes after the main activities were completed. Filming during midnight operations presented another challenge because lighting was limited, so we could only illuminate the areas within the camera frame. The director had to plan every shot carefully to ensure we focused on the most important details. On the fourth day, we filmed at the Penang Airport hangar, which was an exciting new experience for our team and a great way to wrap up the Penang shoot.
This project reminded us that good video production, especially in the corporate space, is always a team effort. Without the client’s full involvement, it would have been impossible to capture authentic and meaningful scenes. We’re proud of how the final video turned out, not just as a brand asset for Phili-Orient but as a reflection of their deep-rooted expertise and operational precision in Malaysia’s logistics ecosystem.
